Solutions to the most common issues related to Microsoft 365 integrations
This article covers:
- Issue: Error message “Looks like you haven't added any calendar emails yet!”, or all room resources are not listed in the Goget Dashboard
- Guide: Manually add calendars by invitation to service account
- Issue: Calendar integration requires reauthentication due to the following error: "Backup Auth Service attempted to serve a request that previously failed at the Primary Auth Service; however, the request also failed at the Backup Auth Service."
Issue: Error message: “Looks like you haven't added any calendar emails yet!”, or all room resources are not listed in the Goget Dashboard
After successfully adding the integration no calendars are listed in the Goget admin dashboard and an error message is shown.
How to resolve:
- Check that the Service Account have “Full Access” permission to all room resources. Note! If the permission was set recently allow up to 48 hours for settings to propagate throughout M365.
- Log in to https://outlook.office.com/calendar with the service account and delete the room resources from the “Other Calendars” list and then re-add them again by pressing “Add Calendar -> Add from directory” and following the on-screen instructions.
- If the above steps are not working, see item below “Manually add calendars to service account by invitation”.
Guide: Manually add calendars by invitation to service account
- Log in to https://outlook.office.com/calendar with the service account and click “Open another mailbox” in the top right corner.
- Enter the email of the Room Resource and press “Open”.
- When Outlook has opened the room resource calendar, select “Share” from the top menu.
- Under “Sharing and permissions” enter the service account email and select “Can edit”. Then press the button “Share” to send a sharing invitation to the Service Accounts email.
- Open the email for the service account and press “Accept” in the email titled “You're invited to share this calendar”
- Now the Room Resource calendar have been added by invitation and when refreshing the calendar list in GOGET Dashboard you should see it in the list.
- Note that it can take up to 48 hours for changes to propagate in M365.
Issue: Calendar integration requires reauthentication due to the following error: "Backup Auth Service attempted to serve a request that previously failed at the Primary Auth Service; however, the request also failed at the Backup Auth Service."
This error occurs when the primary authentication service in Microsoft Entra is unavailable, causing the calendar integration to attempt obtaining an access token for M365 calendars via the backup authentication service. When the backup service is used, the Conditional Access Resilience default can trigger a requirement for reauthentication via MFA. This behavior is entirely managed by M365, and unfortunately, it is not something that Goget can influence.
For more information, you can refer to the official M365 documentation on Conditional Access resilience defaults here.
How to resolve:
- We recommend disabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for the Service Account used in the calendar integration, as suggested by Microsoft in this article.
- Ensure that Resilience Defaults are enabled for relevant Conditional Access policies, as described by Microsoft in this article. Enabling resilience defaults allows applications to maintain access to data during authentication service disruptions, ensuring continuity in service.
